Cavity - Laid Insignificant Reissue 2008

"The variety of grimness on Laid Insignificant makes it a less caustic (or at least more enjoyably caustic) listen than the numbingly downtrodden early records by sludge brothers Eyehategod and Melvins. Cavity’s best songs build tension with creative use of feedback and discordant picking and tempo changes, and always hit payoff when those mammoth doom riffs land. And vocalist Rene Barge possesses a huge range of throat-shredding techniques in his arsenal, adding to the band’s dynamic attack. So while Laid Insignificant’s brevity qualifies it as an EP, it’s got the breadth of a full album. Cavity’s long gone, but the Laid Insignificant reissue does a nice job of filling the hole."

Doomriders - Black Thunder (2005)

Doomriders "Black Thunder", was recorded and engineered by Kurt Ballou (Converge) @ Godcity Studios. Recorded primarily in a live setting, "Black Thunder" is a collection of thirteen unbridled songs filled with spontaneity and vigor. From the infectious hook of the title track, to the soul wrenching track "Voice of Fire", "Black Thunder" is as eclectic of an album as they come. Paying homage to their collective musical heroes, while boldly serving as a monster of an introduction to the independent music community.

Martha Divine - What Doesn't Kill Us... Will Eventually Kill US (2006)

Glasgow Kentuckys sons of mischef Martha Divine self released their demo and did an outstanding job with it. Everything from the production quality to the artwork, this cd is top notch. Great Hardcore the way it was supposed to be played. Raw, fast and in your face.

Reveal - To Explore The Invention, To Create (1999)

This is the 2nd release from the Amsterdam mathcore legends, Reveal. To Explore... was the only record they put out that wasn't on Goodlife Records. By no means does that have an effect on the quality of the songwriting or production. Sorry this request took so long to fill, but please do enjoy.

Left At Yale were a short lived 4 piece that called, now defunct, Transit Records home. This Ep showcases their great songwriting, creavity and emotion and jams it all into 6 songs at right around 30 minutes. If you enjoyed the Derail CD posted in 2007 then you will surely enjoy this record.

Fight Amp - Hungry For Nothing (2008)

Hailing from New Jersey, Fight Amp channels a sound and presence that harkens the days of old and is reminiscent of the AMREP/dirty dingy side of extreme music. Fight Amp (previously known as Fight Amputation) have spent nearly three and a half years toiling over their sound, traveling the country, self-releasing records, booking their own massive tours, sweating in basements and sleeping in vans crafting what is now their highly refined and most focused effort to date.

Blues - Death And Taxes (2007)

Five dudes in a broken-down van, one cross country trip to Louisville, and several days and nights in the studio with Lords’ Chris Owens later, and Blues’ debut ep ‘Death and Taxes’ is born. Throwing caution to the wind, Blues blast out five tracks of dirty southern metal with a rock fury that recalls Unbroken and Breather Resist.

Grace Gale - Stronger Faster Science (2008)

The members of Grace Gale decided it was time to try something new. As a band, they have charted a course and set sail with one singular destination: a hardcore band with the partying sense of Motley Crue, and the wholesome likability of Ranger Rick. Whether it's doing lines of coffee in its powder form off blonde bombshells (or soccer moms depending on what time of day it is) or explaining the life cycle of the Northern Icelandic Tree Owls to 4th graders, Grace Gale will continue to rock until one of them is dumb enough to fall in love. But let's all hope we're too smart for that.

New Lows - Demo (2007)

Its not very often that we here at the_hive come across a demo that is as compeling as the one we just got from New Lows. This 5 piece hailing out of New England play uncompromising and unrelenting hardcore. They do a magnificent job of blending gloom, hate and disgust into 2 minute songs. We can't wait to hear more!

Poser Disposer - Waiting To Inhale (2005)

Poser Disposer is a power trio coming to us out of Saskatoon Canada. They play a breed of grind that has elements of humor, politics and drugs. All members share vocal duties which gives their songs a lot of depth and keeps them from getting too redundant. This is an excellent debut for a band with tons of promise.
